Unity in diversity! A False promise.
Yeah it is soon, Not soon literally but soon, Relatively
soon and with the enough of soon-s , I assume that an ever long anxiety has
made me sit with the blog again so soon after my previous one.
When skimming through all the comments about my blog, I found
this particular one interesting. It was so, “You compare, Say the pros and cons
in both the area of comparisons and finally finish the post by saying both are
better”. So this time there will be zero comparisons and it will be my own view
and composure.
Is
India a Unified country?
Yes, India is a Unified country. Thank you Late Mr. Patel.
If not him, No other characters who were at the time of independence had that
mental strength and attitude to make the vastly diversified states which were
under various Monarchs to be a part of Indian constitution. That’s why he was
rightly Nicky-d as Iron man of India.
I didn’t mean ‘Unified’
literally, But practically.
It has 30 states (If I’m not wrong), with Telengana got
added latest and quite few union territories. Is there any brotherhood among
any of these states? Affection? Or at the very least, Humanity? This is not the
case since 1947 but it was happening for centuries. The very same reason
had made us slaves under the Britons for two centuries. Okay let’s spare those
years of freedom movements, where you can argue that people were together
fighting against the Britons but that was “kan ketta piragua suriya namaskaram”
or “Asking for beer when brewery is shut down”.
What do the people above the tropic of cancer, call the
people south of that line? Madarasi? Pandy? To them all the south Indian’s are
same. It’s not only with the name; they treat the people of south as low and
undesirable. They see skin, Disgusting way to judge. I find it no difference
from the black-white racial discrimination which we can see in the west.
What about the people in the south? They have any idea that
India has some states to the east of Bengal? Do they consider that people of
North-east as Indians? Pathetically it’s No! The worst part is they consider
them as Chinese (They give reasons for China to say Arunachal Pradesh is their
territory).
When the world is getting short, India is getting long.
Brazilian’s consider the persons as Brazilians if they were in Brasilia or Rio
or they were excavating the Mayans deep inside the Amazons but for Indians the
people from Chennai and Kolkata are different, which means alien to their country. India is a country where someone
can tell that “leave my state, only because you don’t belong to my language”
(Hope I don’t land myself in prison for reproducing what had been told).
When the fishermen of a state in India are getting killed
every day by its so called neighbor nation and the Government in the center
does not open its mouth. When another fisher man of another state is killed by the
Italians, the Government will rise on its feet and take a jiffy to slam down
the persons who did that, only because the secretary of the PM belongs to the
state of the victims? Where is the so called spirit of the nation here?
Every year the statistical department of India takes account
of overall production of Agricultural goods, At least the primary scale will be
on the national wide one. But the states of the Great nation didn’t think this
way, it appears so. They will allow huge amount of water drain and wasted into
the Oceans but they won’t allow the rain shadow regions to get that water. The
reason they say is, If they allow that, there will be shortage of production,
People will die due to the break in the dam which store the water for the rain
shadowed region, and many other kinder garden reasons.
But all I can see is selfishness and Ugly politics.
When new people are put together in a class during freshman
year they need an Ice breaker to understand the class better. India needs an
ice breaker too (OMG! For 100 billion people?).I ain’t kidding, the scenario is
like that.
You know what? When people from other parts of India go to
the seven-sister states (The north eastern territories) people there will say
to each other that they are from India. Then where the hell they have been
living? This is pathetic; Terrorism is at the peak among the peaks of Himalayas
in those states because of the lack of government focus in those areas. They
have tasted very less developmental plans. I don’t know how many of you remember
Irom Sharmila, Girl who was under fasting for almost a decade. What for? For
withdrawing the special rights provided to the Indian Army. Special right is what;
When Indian Army can enter your house and kill you without asking any question, If they find you connected with terrorists (the act says so). This is happening
in those sister states and Kashmir valleys.
Nothing goes much different in the Dhandak forests (Government
says them as Naxal regions) from the North eastern states. I’ll come to those
areas in a post entirely dedicated for that in future.
I dream for the day when Punjabi Sardars come to work in
Madurai with the feel of being in home. I dream for a day where the people of India
help each other for the mutual development. I don’t have the feel that those
days are not in near future.
I couldn’t understand this logic boss, when honorable
traffic police men find bus or lorry with other state registration, you must
see their faces, and for them quite an amount is assured. They see those
drivers as Pakistani or Chinese citizen without pass port and not as an Indian
citizen from the neighbor state.
The worst part is when a Boy/Girl of one Indian state fell
in love with a Girl/Boy of another state, they face a whole lot of problem more
than building an atomic power plant. Parents/family/state reacts like they are
going to marry an alien from mars (Even Marrying within the state in other
community is a great head ache here, pinna enga?). I respect you for this
Mr.Chetan! You surely deserve a hat-off
Even though we have friends from other states, how normal we
try to be with them, they always have the difference in their minds. They will
consider a bad-their state friend and a good-other state friend as same. I’m
seeing it in day-to-day life. I get exhausted out of frustration every time
when I see such situations.
I don’t know if I’m the only person in late teens who feels
the seriousness of this problem because of my constant reading of all the possible newspapers and magz from my
early teen age. I fear that India will get the condition of U.S.S.R (Former U.S.S.R
got broken into many fragment nations, the biggest fragment is Russia). This may
be my implication after my scrutiny of this problem.
My One liner for this is:
“Ethana Chak de vandhalum ungala thirutha mudiyathu!”
